A useful libretto for home screening or for stocking the pews of the art house, The Black Book is a finely crafted, limited edition chapbook of the film’s narrative text.
Offered in response to audience interest in the film’s narration, The Black Book is the poetry of General Orders No. 9 typeset as the long-form free verse that it is.
It is illustrated with archival images central to the mythology of the film and includes historical texts which reveal the origin of the film’s title and hint at what is to come.
The Black Book is a 36-page, perfect-bound piece designed by Ash Arnett, the GO9 designer of record. The text was printed by digital lithography on 80lb Classic Crest by Claxton Printing in Atlanta, Georgia and features a debossed cover on heavy black stock. We offer an edition of 250 signed and numbered copies. Written, designed, and printed in Georgia, 2011.
